WMS Origins
Tom (holding hat), the founder and still owner of WMS, started selling handbags at the local swapmeet in Oceanside, California. He sold the business for $500 over cost of goods ($5,500), and in 1988 Tom moved into an industrial warehouse and started wholesaling nationwide.

Tom says, "I know how important it is to have a supplier you can totally trust. The only reason I survived in this business was because I was lucky enough to find a supplier that was totally honest and always gave me good rock solid advice and very good deals. His name is Pat Farrell, a really smart, smart guy. Now that I'm a supplier I have to give the same great opportunities to my Customers, if they don't do good, we don't do good!"

From the earliest swap meet days to the present, WMS has focused on "off-price" merchandise to provide genuine bargains to it's customers.

WMS buys large lots, odd-lots, cancellations and closeouts to provide merchandise at "way below wholesale prices" to it's customers. Here's an example: A shipment of specially ordered goods may arrive days late to a large retail chain and because it's no longer approved to be received, the shipment is refused at the receiving dock - it goes back to the manufacturer and is often sold at a huge loss, way below cost, often pennies on the dollar.

One thing Tom doesn't buy is department store returns, as he's only interested in A-1,  1st quality goods, so his Customers don't have to deal with time consuming, expensive problems such as broken zippers, missing buttons, split seams etc. "Don't go looking for trouble" Tom says, "enough of it'll find you on it's own".
